Assessments & PMT

Compass provides two tools for beneficiary eligibility assessment: Assessment forms for structured data collection and the Poverty Measurement Tool (PMT) for scoring-based eligibility.

Assessment forms are structured questionnaires used to collect information from beneficiaries — for household surveys, needs assessments, intake evaluations, and more.

  1. Click AssessmentsForm TemplatesNew template.
  2. Give the template a name and optional description.
  3. Add fields using the form builder:
    • Text, number, date, dropdown, checkbox, and scale fields are supported
    • Mark fields as required or optional
    • Group related fields into sections
  4. Click Save template.
  1. Click AssessmentsNew assessment.
  2. Select the beneficiary and the form template to use.
  3. Fill in the form responses (or record responses from the beneficiary).
  4. Click Submit assessment.

Assessment results appear on the beneficiary’s profile under the Assessments tab.

The PMT calculates an eligibility score for each beneficiary based on household and socioeconomic variables you define. Scores determine who qualifies for a programme.

  1. Click AssessmentsPMT FormulasNew formula.
  2. Name the formula and add the scoring variables:
    • Each variable has a weight (how much it contributes to the total score)
    • Variables typically map to fields from an assessment form
  3. Set the eligibility threshold — the minimum score required to qualify.
  4. Click Save formula.

PMT scores are calculated automatically when a beneficiary completes an assessment linked to the formula.

To view a score:

  1. Open a beneficiary’s profile.
  2. Click the Assessments tab.
  3. The PMT score and eligibility status (Eligible / Not eligible) are shown alongside the assessment results.
