Finance Release
Finance release is for budgets connected to Scolah Compass. On a line that requires it, a Scolah Compass disbursement batch doesn’t go ahead when it is approved in Scolah Compass: the money is held on the line and waits for finance to release it.
Turn it on for a line
Section titled “Turn it on for a line”Finance approvers and admins can change this on any line, at any time:
- Open the budget and click Edit on the line. The Finance release settings are at the bottom.
- Tick Require a finance release for Compass payouts.
- Choose Every batch, or Only batches above an amount.
- Set Requests expire after (days).
New lines start with the workspace’s finance release defaults.
Expense requests, staff advances and manual entries never need a release.
Decide a release
Section titled “Decide a release”- Go to Spend → Finance release. Each request shows the Scolah Compass batch, programme, who approved it in Scolah Compass, the Held amount and what is available on the line.
- Click Release to let the payout go ahead, or Decline with a reason.
Release requests go through the approval rules for finance releases, like other requests. Held money already counts as committed.
What else can happen
Section titled “What else can happen”- Expiry. If nobody decides before the request expires, the held money goes back to the line and Scolah Compass is told.
- Withdraw. Finance can Withdraw a request: the money goes back to the line and Scolah Compass is told the batch was not released.
- Reminders. Someone in Scolah Compass can send a reminder, at most once a day. It arrives as an alert, and the request shows its Reminders history.
